Mangaluru: Police arrested two persons in connection with illegal cattle trafficking at Kollapada in Poonacha village here.
The men were arrested during a routine traffic check at a private bust stand at Kollapada, Infomed Vitla Police.
The arrested accused has been identified as Narayan Naika and Santhosh Kumar. The were reportedly transporting a male calf in an Omni van without any documents.
According to the police, the calf was being transported brutally by being crammed into the small car and having its limbs and neck rope-bound. The calf was allegedly being transported for slaughter illegally to Kerala.
The Omni car was seized, and the calf was saved. According to the police, the seized items are worth a total of Rs. 1.52 lakh.
