Mangaluru: The election heat in the State is getting hotter day by day. All parties are busy figuring out how to make their candidates win. Meanwhile, the BJP is in a tight spot in these two key constituencies of Dakshina Kannada.
The ticket tension seems to have begun at Puttur and Sullia, known to be BJP’s stronghold. The list of aspirants in the region is strong with anger against the BJP’s sitting MLAs in the two constituencies.
It is learnt that In Puttur and Sullia, there is resentment against the current MLAs from BJPand instead of the BJP. Hence, there is a strong demand to give tickets to leaders associated with Hindu organisations.
In the wake of the increase in number of aspirants, the RSS has decided to seek opinion polls. They have already been asked to conduct a survey by the Sangh’s extensions. And it is learnt that this report will be submitted by the RSS itself to the High Command.
In Sullia, S. Angara has been an MLA and a Minister twice in the last six terms. There are rumours doing the rounds that Angara will stay away from politics this time around. Further, the BJP itself is of the opinion that despite being a Minister, he has not done much work in the Constituency. This is the reason why there is a confusion in the party of the region
In Puttur Constituency, activists are protesting against MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor. People are of the opinion that the activists who were responsible for making him win were not taken into confidence after he bacame an MLA. Apart from this, this is the first time that the BJP has been hit hard by ticket distribution as far as these regions are concerned for obvious reasons as stated above.
