Mangaluru: In order to mount pressure on the union government to construct Rama Mandir in Ayodhya, the Dakshina Kannada district unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in association with other Hindu outfits will be organising a massive public meeting at Nehru Maidan on November 25.
Speaking about the scheduled meeting, VHP State President M B Puranik told reporters on Tuesday, November 13, that around 25,000 were people expected to participate in the meeting. “Though the issue of constructing Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is now in Supreme Court from the past several years, no concrete decision has been taken till date. As justice delayed is justice denied, VHP has planned to organise a massive meeting now. We are organising this meeting not against anybody but, it is just an attempt to mount pressure on the union government so as to construct Rama Mandir in Ayodhya. Prior to the meeting, a massive rally will be taken out from Ambedkar Circle to Nehru Maidan at around 3 PM”, he said.
Puranik also informed that a public meeting will be convened in the neighboring districts also. “There is a plan to organise such public meeting at Kasargod, Kodagu and Udupi districts on November 18, November 30 and December 2 respectively. National leaders of VHP, pontiffs of various religious centres will also participate in the public meeting”, Puranik added.
VHP Mangaluru Unit Secretary Sharan Pumpwell, District Secretary Shivanand Mendon, District Working President Gopal Kuttar and Bajrang Dal District Convener Praveen Kuttar were present.
Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Mayor Bhaskar K, Deputy Mayor Mohammed K, former registrar of Mangalore University Dr K Janardhan, Prof Vasudeva Belle, SCDCC Bank Director Belapu Deviprasad Shetty among others were present.
