Mangaluru: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for 15 National Highway projects of 164 km worth Rs 3,163 Crore at Cordel Hall, Kulashekara in the City on Monday Feb 28
Union Minister Gadkari was accorded a warm welcome at the Mangaluru International Airport in Bajpe here.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that he is very happy that the infrastructure development which has happened so far in Karnataka has been great. The road works and National Highway projects launched would benefit trade, industries and businesses to a large extent, he stressed.
Elaborating on important National Highway works that will benefit Karnataka, he said a six-lane road is being developed between Pune and Bengaluru which will help one reach Bengaluru within four hours. Further, Chennai and Bengaluru road work will be launched soon that will reduce the travel between these two cities to just two hours, informed.
State BJP President MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the Tollgate in Surathkal is a problem for motorists. “I am requesting Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to clear the toll gate.”
There have been many struggles in the past and many struggles are still on against the Surathkal toll gate. Thus, MP appealed to Minister Gadkari to remove the toll gate as it is a public demand from the region.
