In Mangaluru, the Karnataka State Election Commission (SEC) has lauded the efforts of a nine-year-old girl, Sannidhi LS Kashekodi, for her voluntary involvement in Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities during the previous assembly election in Dakshina Kannada. Sannidhi, a Class 4 student at Balavikasa English Medium School in Peraje, Balthila village, Bantwal taluk, is now gearing up to contribute to SVEEP initiatives for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Hailing from Kashekodi village in Bantwal, Sannidhi took the initiative to write letters to both the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the SEC in February, outlining her dedication to SVEEP activities during the last election cycle. Impressed by her fervor in motivating voters through various campaigns, both the ECI and the SEC commended her efforts. The SEC went further, directing the deputy commissioner and the zilla panchayat CEO, also the district nodal officer for SVEEP activities, to ensure Sannidhi’s active participation in future endeavors.

The SEC emphasized the importance of legally verifying Sannidhi’s proposal for SVEEP activities, stating that her suggestions for independent and non-political awareness campaigns could be considered for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Sannidhi’s father, Lokesh Kashekodi, shared that his daughter conducted voter awareness campaigns in Mangaluru taluk, Balthila village, and Belthangady taluk during the previous assembly election. He mentioned their family’s support in facilitating Sannidhi’s efforts, with both him and his wife, Sheelavathi, assisting her in reaching various locations. Lokesh, who is a cab driver, took Sannidhi to distant places to spread awareness.

Previously, Sannidhi was felicitated by the then deputy commissioner, Ravi Kumar MR, and the current DC, Mullai Muhilan MP, for her dedication to promoting democracy.

Looking ahead, Sannidhi expressed her intention to extend her voter awareness campaigns to Goa and Kerala for the Lok Sabha election. She plans to communicate in the local languages of these states, with her campaign scheduled to kick off in the first week of April.
