Mangaluru: After a successful first edition in 2018, the ladies of Mangaluru geared up for ‘Pinkathon Day Mangalore 2.0’ at Mangala stadium recently. This edition was led by Radhika Pai Maroor Ambassador of Pinkathon in Mangaluru.
Corrine Rasquinha, a founding member of the White Doves was the chief guest.
In her address, Corrine encouraged women to believe in themselves. “There is a higher power who blesses us and we need to make use of every opportunity that comes our way,” she said.
The event was flagged off by Lakshman Rai, head coach of the stadium and retired Army personnel, Corrine and Radhika Maroor.
Earlier, Zumba instructor Reshma began a warm-up session with stretching, squats and jogging.
As many as 146 people registered this year and were seen participating in runs of up to 2 km, 3 km and 5 km, staring form the Mangala Stadium and till Infosys. The participants returned to the stadium for a cool down session and received medals. Women, men and children enthusiastically gathered to witness the event.
Amisha came first in the 3 km run. Uma Bhaghyalashmi came first in the 5 km run.
Preetham Kamath, a trainer and facilitator in the field of education, was the master of ceremonies.
Hema, Sangeetha, Mythili Maroor, Rahasya Pai Maroor, Sanchia Nazareth, Preetham Kamath and Radhika Pai Maroor planned and coordinated the event for the benefit of Mangalorean ladies. The Pinkathon team conducts regular fitness activities at the beach and clubs to encourage women to be more healthy and active.
Sanchia- The planner was the event coordinator. Kamath caterers served the refreshments. The Maroor Group sponsored volunteer T-shirts. Sharath was the photographer.
The event was also supported by the Yenepoya team ambulance.
