Mangaluru: Two retired priests died and another priest sustained injuries in a road mishap that took place near Kottara on Sunday, November 1.
The deceased are Fr Maxim Furtado (74) and Fr John D’Souza (73). Fr Joseph Martis, Rector of St Joseph Seminary, Jeppu, who was driving the jeep, sustained minor injuries and is recuperating.
According to sources, the priests were on their way to Kulur Church to be a part of a mass that was held to celebrate the birthday of Fr Harold D’Souza, Parish Priest of Kulur. A speeding tanker hit their jeep from behind. The impact was such that Fr Maxim and Fr John died on their way to the hospital.
West traffic police have registered a case.
