In a fortunate turn of events, a woman who fell into an open well in Kulshekar was promptly rescued by fire personnel from the Kadri Fire service station on Thursday evening. The incident, which could have turned tragic, was averted due to the swift action of the rescue team.
The woman, identified as Tressy D’Souza (58), escaped serious injury from the fall, but her prolonged exposure to the water in the well caused her skin to turn pale. Sources from the Kadri Fire service station revealed that they received a distress call regarding the incident, wherein the woman had fallen into a 30-feet deep well located behind the Infant Jesus shrine in Kulashekar.
It is suspected that D’Souza suffered a faint spell while drawing water, leading to her fall into the well. Remarkably, she managed to remain afloat inside the well, clutching onto a rope with about eight feet of water. Despite heavy traffic congestion at KPT, Nanthoor junctions, and Kulshekar flyover, the rescue personnel swiftly reached the spot.
Thanks to their timely intervention, D’Souza was rescued without further harm. The incident underscores the importance of prompt emergency response and the invaluable role played by dedicated rescue teams in safeguarding lives during unforeseen emergencies.
