Mangaluru: The women’s networking scene in Mangaluru has undergone a substantial transformation in recent years, marking a departure from traditional, informal connections within family or community circles. The shift towards more structured and purpose-driven networking initiatives, especially among women entrepreneurs, has become evident.

One such initiative, Evolve, stands out as it exclusively caters to women entrepreneurs with established entities in their names. Amrutha Nayak, founder member and joint secretary of Evolve, emphasizes the group’s mission to uplift and equip women from all walks of life, offering peer-to-peer support in navigating challenges often found in male-dominated entrepreneurial spaces. Since its launch in 2020 with 20 members, Evolve has flourished into a thriving community of over 35 dynamic entrepreneurs.

Alka Manoj, founder and designer of Li’l Ohana and team lead for Women Networking Club, highlights the evolving nature of networking groups, which extend beyond business growth to become welcoming platforms for new individuals in town seeking friendships or navigating unfamiliar settings. The shift towards fostering connections and friendships, in addition to business improvement, is making a meaningful impact.

Azweena Fathima, co-founder of Ida women’s community, emphasizes the lifeline that networking groups provide for women balancing family and career challenges. These groups not only offer valuable connections but also opportunities for friendship, business exploration, and a significant boost in confidence. Witnessing a surge in popularity, women’s networking groups are proving to be a boon for entrepreneurs managing businesses from home, providing a platform for growth, collaboration, and personal development.

The evolving dynamics of these groups extend beyond traditional boundaries, with members embarking on solo trips with fellow members, expanding horizons, and forging new connections. Mangaluru’s women’s networking landscape reflects the broader trend of empowering women entrepreneurs through structured and supportive initiatives.
