In a recent incident at the Mini Vidhana Soudha in Mangaluru, surveyor Sheethal Raj SG from the survey department was apprehended for accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000. The complaint arose when a 72-year-old woman sought a correction in land records through the complainant. On Feb 2, a tatkal application was submitted online, accompanied by a payment of Rs 1,500.
Lokayukta SP CA Simon revealed that on Feb 29, surveyor Sheethal visited the site and allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 for preparing the sketch. After negotiations, the accused reportedly agreed to accept Rs 4,000. The illicit exchange was, however, thwarted when he was caught red-handed accepting the bribe.
