Udupi: In a recent incident in the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency, an altercation unfolded between BJP leaders CT Ravi and MP Shobha Karandlaje, worsening their already strained relations. BJP workers have initiated the “Go Back Shobha” campaign in response.
Simultaneously, a cold war persists between Karandlaje and Yeddyurappa’s son BY Vijayendra. With Vijayendra assuming the role of BJP state president, Karandlaje is left with two options: the Vokkaliga-dominated Bangalore North or Tumkur seats. Despite this, she insists on contesting for the Udupi-Chikmagalur seat, which she won in 2014, expressing confidence in winning.
Ravi, leveraging his Vokkaliga identity, sees the Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency as ideal for him. Karandlaje receives backing from former Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, who perceives the campaign against her as a conspiracy and is confident in her victory. Yeddyurappa highlights Karandlaje’s previous success with over 3.5 lakh votes.
Senior party leaders, witnessing the discord, express disappointment over the indiscipline within the constituency.
