District Disability Rehabilitation Centre to be set up in Udupi

Udupi: Geneva Convention Day, a rally and fund collection drive was organised by the district unit of the Indian Red Cross Society at the Agarkad stadium on Wednesday, August 12.
Deputy Commissioner R Vishal said that to support the disabled in the district with an estimated Rs. 42 lakh, a District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) would be set up at Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Bhavan. The administration has allocated Rs. 20 lakh and the rest would be collected through donations, it is said.

DDRC will provide advanced treatment with hearing aids and other facilities. The centre would be manned by three persons including a speech therapist. He also added that a high Plasma Component Blood Bank will be set up Udupi and Kundapura.

Almost 1000 students participated in the procession from all colleges.

The procession passed through Town Hall road, Court road, Diana Circle, Kavi Muddanna road, Shiribeedu road, Badagupete road and culminated at Rajanagana.
