Udupi: Pejawara Matha Seer Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji has issued a clarification that his statement on providing eggs during midday meal for school children has been misreported with partial information being disseminated.
In a video clip issuing clarification, seer said when his opinion was sought on distribution of eggs to all children during midday meal, he had responded that everyone should enjoy the freedom of choice with regard to food, and there should be no force on vegetarians to eat eggs. “This response was misinterpreted, and made to look like I was against giving eggs to malnourished children. However, now it is clear that those who consume eggs get eggs and others get bananas.” Further, he informed that he was not informed about this when his opinion was sought on distributing eggs to all school children.
He alleged that some sections of the media were making efforts to turn people against him over his remarks on students’ choice of food.
