Udupi: A police constable attached to Malpe Police station has been suspended after he assaulted a factory worker. However, what may be taken note of is that the worker was employed in fishmeal factory owned by none other than district in-charge minister Pramodh Madhwaraj and despite the constable stating that the worker had tried to misbehave with his pregnant wife, the constable had to face the brunt.
The police constable is identified as Prakash and as per him, the factory worker identified as Kumar had teased his pregnant wife.
Prakash has stated that on April 5, he was riding on his bike with his wife. When he went to an ATM leaving his wife outside, Kumar and his friends passed derogatory comments at his wife. When his wife came inside the ATM kiosk and informed Prakash about the same, Prakash had ignored the gang and taken his wife away, but soon the gang of men followed Prakash and tried to misbehave with his wife.
Raged by this, Prakash stopped the bike and assaulted Kumar. With the help of Hoysala police squad, Prakash made sure that the gang was taken to the police station. However, within no time, Prakash has been suspended.
Prakash’s wife Jyothi went to the Udupi Police Station and complained about the eve-teasing by Kumar and has filed a complaint against Kumar in Udupi Town Women’s Police Station. She also sought protection from the police.
Meanwhile, Pramod Madhwaraj visited Kumar in the hospital and inquired about the incident. Later Pramod said that the police constable was suspended for his cruelty in the police station.
