Karkala: The unfortunate demise of Shekhar Ajekar occurred at the age of 54 due to a heart attack on October 31. Shekhar experienced a cardiac arrest at his Ajekar residence in the morning and was promptly rushed to Karkala Government Hospital.
At that moment, Shekhar Ajekar had already passed away. He embarked on his journalistic career in Mumbai, where he organized events like the Beladingala Sahitya Sammelana and Kavi Sammelan. Initially serving as the deputy editor for Karnataka Malla in Mumbai, he later became associated with Janavahini in Mangalore.
Subsequently, he worked as a reporter for various newspapers, including Kannada Prabha. In recent years, he shifted his focus from journalism to concentrate on literary and organizational activities. His accomplishments were noteworthy, including receiving accolades such as the Udupi District Rajyotsava Award, the National Basavashree Award in 2018, the Krishi Bandhu 2019 National Sangolli Rayanna Award, the Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Puraskaram in 2019, the Vishwa Darshana Sahitya Puraskaram in 2019, the Shikha Bharatha Award, among many others. Shekhar Ajekar is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
