Shivamogga: Former minister KS Eshwarappa, who has announced his intention to contest the Lok Sabha election from the Shivamogga Lok Sabha seat, stated that he received a call from Union Home Minister Amit Shah and will be meeting him in New Delhi on March 3 (Wednesday).

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Eshwarappa confirmed that he received a call from Shah and will be meeting him in the national capital tomorrow.

Eshwarappa, who was upset following his son KE Kantesh being denied a BJP ticket to contest the election from the Haveri-Gadag Lok Sabha seat, blamed former CM Yediyurappa for this.

He later announced that he would be contesting the election from Shivamogga as an independent candidate against BY Vijayendra, son of BS Yediyurappa.

The former minister stated that Shah asked him about the reason for his rebellion, and he informed the Union Minister that the party is under the control of the Yediyurappa family. He added that leaders who advocated Hinduism were being sidelined. The party is being controlled by one family in the state, and to break that, he decided to contest.

Eshwarappa affirmed that he is determined to proceed with the polls and will not back off even if Prime Minister Modi himself asks him not to contest.
