Chikkaballapura: Chintamani Police in Chikkaballapur district made a significant discovery, confiscating a major haul of gold jewellery worth an astounding 5 crore rupees and leading to the arrest of four individuals. The suspects, who lacked proper documentation for the valuable consignment, were caught while transporting it.
The incident occurred when PSI Nagendraprasad from Chintamani Town Police Station was conducting a routine patrol in the NR layout. He noticed a car with visible damage to its front end and decided to stop the vehicle for inspection.
Upon inspecting the car and its occupants – Sankareshwar, Arun, Vikram, and Gopal Das, all from Tamil Nadu – the police found two bags containing ten plastic cans. The surprising discovery was that these cans held a total of 10 kilograms and 30 grams of gold jewellery.
Given the lack of proper documentation for such a large quantity of gold, suspicions arose, and the individuals were questioned. However, their responses failed to satisfy the authorities, indicating that the gold jewellery was being transported illegally.
Consequently, the Chintamani Police took all four suspects into custody and filed a case against them. The seizure of the gold jewellery, valued at a whopping 5 crore rupees, has prompted further investigations. Authorities are now trying to determine the origin and intended destination of the seized gold, as well as if any additional accomplices were involved in the suspicious transportation.
