H.D.Kote : A youth was seriously wounded in a tiger attack on him at Kalasur village on the edge of the N. Begur forest area in Bandipur National Park limits on Thursday July 24.
The injured youth Ramu (23), son of Gopala Gowda of Kalasur village has been hospitalised. The tiger pounced on Ramu from behind while he was grazing sheep in the land adjacent to the forest at around 3 pm.
People nearby rushed to the spot on hearing his screams and drove away the wild animal. Ramu who sustained injuries on his mouth, back, hands and legs was rushed to the government hospital in an ambulance and provided treatment.
Villagers say they have often spotted a tiger in the village since the past one year and that it had already devoured several domestic animals. The latest incident wherein it attacked a man during broad daylight has panicked villagers.
Begur Range Forest Officer Chikkarajendra met the victim at the hospital. Ramu has now been shifted to KR Hospital in Mysore for higher treatment.
