Fake job racket: Two railwaymen held

Hubballi: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel here have caught four persons, including two railway employees, for allegedly cheating railway job aspirants.

The accused used to launder money from job aspirants after assuring them to get Group C and D jobs in South-Western Railway (SWR). They were caught by the RPF when they were reportedly conducting “medical test” for these job aspirants, at the Central Railway Hospital in Hubballi.

The arrested have been identified as SWR Senior Commercial Assistant Anand P S, who was working at Chikkajajur in Mysuru Division, Central Railway Hospital cleaning worker Ramesh Saken, Sachin B and Manohar S V of Chamarajnagar. A cash of Rs 17,000 was recovered from them.

SWR Senior Divisional Security Commissioner V C Mallikarjun told reporters that the RPF personnel detained four persons after it came to be known that a suspicious activity was going on at the Central Railway Hospital.

All the four arrested were handed over to the Keshwapur police, he said.

The accused had assured railway jobs and demanded Rs 5 Lakh to 6 lakh from each candidate. The aspirants were called to Railway Hospital for “medical test”, and the candidates’ blood samples were being taken. As many as 10 job aspirants from Mysuru region had attended the medical test, he said.

The accused allegedly issued fake call letters, conducted written test at a hotel and issued fake selection letters after getting the money, it is said.
