Veteran Congress Leader Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi Passes Away

Kalaburgi: Senior Congress leader Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi, who served as a Member of Parliament for Kalaburagi, passed away at 80 due to age-related illness. Survived by his wife, son, and daughter, his funeral prayer will be held at a local mosque near Haft Gumbaz on Wednesday


Condolences poured in from leaders like AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, CM Siddaramaiah, and D.K. Shivakumar. Saradgi won Lok Sabha elections in 1999 and 2004, defeating BJP’s Basavaraj Patil Sedam. After constituency delimitation in 2008, Mallikarjun Kharge replaced him.

Saradgi later served in the Karnataka Legislative Council. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Government Arts and Science College, Gulbarga, and his Law degree from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He was born on June 5, 1944.
