Bidar: Basavalinga Pattadevar, the President of the Lingayat Seers’ Federation, has made a fervent appeal for the official recognition of Jagajyothi Basavanna as the cultural leader of Karnataka, particularly due to his advocacy of equality within the Bhalki community. This call was formalized when he presented a memorandum to Ishwar Khandre, the district in-charge minister, during an event hosted at Hiremath Sansthan in the town on Sunday.
Basavanna is celebrated as one of the world’s eminent philosophers, renowned for establishing the Anubhava Mandapam in the 12th century, which notably served as the first-ever People’s Parliament on a global scale. The revolutionary movement within the Anubhava Mandapam, uniting 770 sharanas, represented a comprehensive endeavor aimed at the well-being of all living beings.
The recognition of Basavanna’s profound impact extends worldwide, as evidenced by the placement of statues honoring him and the continuous study of his teachings. An illustrative example of this global acknowledgment is the statue of Basavanna installed along the banks of the River Thames in London.
India’s pride in being the birthplace of Basavanna, an extraordinary philosopher, underscores the fervent appeal by the Lingayat Seers’ Association for his official recognition as the cultural leader of the state.
