Kalaburagi: A student who was filming a video of security personnel questioning a student who was leaving the campus on a bike at night was allegedly assaulted by a security officer of the Central University of Karnataka at Kadaganchi here in the District on night of Monday November 28.

A student from Kerala had left on a bike at night. Security officer Shivanand, who was at the main entrance of the University, told her not to go out. The argument escalated and the student asked if there was any circular stating that one could not get out at night. In the video, Shivanand has stated that another student was filming all this and assaulted the student.

Angered by the incident, a group of students who were irked by the behaviour of the security guard went to the university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Battu Satyanarayana’s house and lodged a complaint.

The students and Shivanand Koli were summoned for a meeting
