Following the directive from the Karnataka High Court, the Karnataka State Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has decided to reschedule board exams for classes 5, 8, and 9. Initially slated to commence from March 13, these exams will now begin on March 25. Additionally, the SSLC (class 10) exams, with 8.9 lakh registered students, will also start on the same date.
According to the revised schedule, class 5 exams will be conducted on March 25 for Environmental Studies and March 26 for Mathematics. Class 8 exams will be held from March 25 to 28, covering subjects such as Third Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science. Similarly, class 9 exams will follow the same dates but with adjusted timings for subjects like Third Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science.
To prevent clashes with SSLC exams, the exams for classes 5, 8, and 9 are scheduled in the afternoon on March 25 and March 27. In the event of SSLC exams not being conducted, the summative assessment for classes 5, 8, and 9 will be held in the morning.
The Karnataka High Court’s division bench has permitted the state government to conduct board exams for classes 5, 8, and 9 under the state syllabus, overturning a previous single bench order that invalidated the government’s decision to conduct these examinations.
