Chikkamagaluru: “The bhoomi pooja for the installation of Sangolli Rayanna Statue at Chikkamagaluru – Dantaramakki has been performed and the statue will be installed by Ugadi, said MLA C. T. Ravi.

He was speaking to mediapersons after inspecting the development works of Basavanahalli Lake.
He said that a statue inauguration programme will be organised on March 26 or 27. I had given special grants to Basavanahalli Lake when I was the Tourism Minister. Boating, cycling areas, walking paths, and parks will be constructed to organise the event on special occasions, he said.

“There is a grant of Rs. 37 Crore, and works worth more than Rs. 28 Crore has been started,” he informed.

“When the lake was in ruins, they were also making allegations. Now the lake irrigation catchment has almost deteriorated. However, work is being done to deepen the water storage so that there is no scarcity in any way. Already the catchment area has been converted into plots. Agriculture has come down. We will retain the source of the lake. It cannot be carried by anyone, nor can it be consumed. No one can stop those who make alligations,” he said.

“Kote Lake is in the tender stage and the work will start after 3 months. It will be developed at the cost of Rs 3.4 Crore,” he added.
