Chikkamagaluru: In the wake of smooth and peaceful polling with announcement of elections in the State, the first batch of 725 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldiers have been deployed in Chikkamagaluru, Udupi and Shivamogga Districts. The battalion arrived at Birur Railway Station in a special train.
The contingent of Odisha Regiment 303 and 304, led by Commandants Sanjay Rawat and P. Panda, Deputy Commandant, was welcomed with a bouquet of flowers by Tarikere Deputy Ssuperintendent of Police K. R. Nagaraj, Kadur Tahasildar Kaviraj and a team of DySP, Circle Inspectors of various Districts.
The election commission has deployed 360 soldiers for Chikkamagaluru District, 303 for Shivamogga and 80 for Udupi District in the first batch that arrived at Birur.
The Police Department arranged for buses, lorries, canters, etc. to transport the soldiers to their respective places and teams led by circle inspectors constituency were taken under the guidance of commandant and DySP.
