Hassan: Two influential MLAs in Hassan District, which is considered to be a stronghold of the JD (S), are sure to leave the party.

JD (S) Leader H. D. Kumaraswamy has already announced the name of Former Minister A. Manju as an alternative candidate for Arakalagud MLA A. T. Ramaswamy.

All that remains is to find an alternative candidate for Arasikere MLA K. M. Shivalingegowda.

A. T. Ramaswamy was originally from the Congress. He contested thrice from the Congress and was a two-time MLA.

In the 2004 elections, he had quit the party and joined the JD (S) after being denied a Congress ticket. He has been in the JD (S) for the last two decades.

K. M. Shivalingegowda started his political career as a Zilla Panchayat member from the JD (S). He was in the JD(S) for more than three decades. He has now decided to leave the party.

Analysing why developments such as leaving the party have taken place in the JD(S), it appears that the JD (S) is no longer conducive to senior politicians’ growth.
