Leopard captured in swift operation at Kesavattur

Hassan: A male leopard fell into a cage near Kesavattur on the night of Friday January 27.

On Thursday January 26 night, a leopard barged into Puttegowda’s shed in Kesavattur and devoured a cow, causing panic among the locals.

The Forest Department Officials, who visited the spot and conducted visits were on the lookout to catch the leopard and on the afternoon of Friday, they tried to capture the leopard by keeping the dead cow at a spot between Kesavattur and Pemmana villages.

The operation was successful with the capture of a leopard which had entered the cage to eat a cow on the night of Friday.

Forest Department personnel transported the cage containing the leopard. Action has been taken to get documents to give compensation to the owner of the dead cow.

The leopard is about four years old and would be released into the forest as per the instructions of the higher authorities.
