Tension briefly gripped the area on Sunday morning when a container caught fire while traveling along the national highway near Mulki. The blaze was first noticed on the container as it crossed the bridge near the famous Bappanadu Temple. Fortunately, the truck driver was able to exit the vehicle in time, avoiding injury.
Local residents quickly rushed to the scene and, with the assistance of personnel from the Hejmady toll gate, took immediate steps to control the fire. Fire service teams soon arrived and fully extinguished the flames, preventing any major damage.
The container, owned by Bhavani Shipping Service Private Limited of Mangaluru, was saved from significant destruction thanks to the swift action of the community and toll gate staff. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
