A thief stole a bundle of Rs 500 notes, amounting to Rs 50,000, from a house in Kasba village, Bantwal taluk, on Saturday.
Incident Details:
- Victim: Poornima, an agriculturist, left her house with her children to gather fodder, closing but not padlocking the main door.
- Time: Around 5:45 PM, barking dogs alerted them.
- Discovery: A companion spotted an unidentified man leaving the house with a plastic box. The thief dropped some cash while fleeing but escaped with one bundle of Rs 500 notes.
Loss:
The stolen amount, part of an insurance payout and arecanut sale proceeds, was kept in a box inside an iron trunk.
Investigation:
A case has been registered at the Bantwal Town Police Station, and investigations are underway.
