After two days of intense traffic congestion, vehicular flow has been restored on the Kulur bridge, much to the relief of commuters.

The traffic buildup began on the evening of July 22, worsening the next day as vehicles lined up along the Kottara–Panambur stretch throughout July 23. Traffic police faced considerable difficulty in controlling the flow, as the movement of vehicles remained disorganized and sluggish.

On Wednesday, repair work was carried out on the joint road near the old arch bridge at Kulur. The stretch has now been widened, and concrete edges have been added. Barricades have been placed to protect the area and allow for proper curing of the concrete, requiring vehicles to proceed slowly through the section.

Additionally, interlocking tiles have been installed on the approach roads on both sides of the bridge, improving surface conditions for vehicles. However, the main bridge still has several potholes, posing a challenge for smooth travel.

Officials from the highway authority confirmed that comprehensive repairs to the bridge deck are planned, but the actual resurfacing will take place only after the monsoon. Until then, only temporary fixes and traffic management measures will be implemented to minimize disruptions.

While the current efforts have brought partial relief, long-term improvements are still awaited, and commuters are advised to drive cautiously, especially around the repaired joint section.
