Mysuru: A total of 14 candidates have filed nominations for Nanjangudu by election, while nine are in fray from Gundlupet. The filing of nomination papers for Nanjangudu and Gundlupet by election which commenced on March 14 concluded on Tuesday, March 21.In Nanjangudu constituency, it is said to be a straight fight between BJP candidate Srinivas Prasad and Congress candidate Kalale Keshavamurthy, meanwhile, in Gundlupet, a nail-biting fight is expected to take place between Geetha Mahavevaprasad of the Congress and Niranjan Prasad from the BJP.
It can be brought to light that the prominent contestants including Srinivas Prasad, Kalale Keshavamurthy, Geetha Mahadevaprasad and Niranjan Prasad filed nomination papers on Monday. The election will be held on April 9 while counting will be held on April 14.
Both the Assembly segments have become a major prestige issue for the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP. Most of the ministers and senior BJP leaders are camping in Gundlupet and Nanjangudu to snatch away the seats from the Congress.
