Mysuru: A cattle feed supplier also involved in money lending business was found hanging by a wayside tree in Kattemalalavadi village of Hunsur taluk.
Devaraj (46), a resident of Hosaholalu village in K R Pet taluk is the deceased.
The incident took place when Devaraj, a prominent money lender visited Bilikere village to recover dues from borrowers. A fight erupted between him and some of the borrowers which might have forced the latter to kill him and hang his body to a wayside tree in their effort to cover the heinous act, it is suspected.
Soon after hearing the news of his death, hundreds of villagers from his native village rushed to the crime spot and demanded the arrest of miscreants, alleging murder.
The Hunsur rural police have registered a case and are investigating further.
