Chamarajanagara: Acting on a tip-off that a man had grown ganja in his house, a joint Operations by the Forest department officials of CEN and Bandipur Forest Department recovered country-made firearms, deer meat, nails of wild animals and ammunition at Annurkeri village in the taluk.
The accused has been identified as Shivanaga Shetty (34), a resident of Annurkeri village. Chamarajanagar Cyber Crime Police Inspector Anand Kumar led a joint raid by Range Forest Officers of Gundlupete Buffer Zone Range and found that five ganja saplings had been planted inside the house. On checking the house, it was found that 5 kg of deer meat, a country-made gun used for hunting, five nails of a bear, 21 nails of a wild cat, 30 ammunition and 300 grams of sulphur powder, white salt and two bundles of wires were found.
The accused has confessed that he used to hunt deer and sell meat at Halepura Village in Gundlupete Taluk twice a week. The two accused, Bellashetty and Kariyashetty of Annurkeri Village, are absconding and the arrested Shivanaga Shetty has been remanded to Judicial Custody. A trap has been laid to nab the absconders.
