Mysuru: The district administration team led by Deputy Commissioner D Randeep and Mayor M J Ravi Kumar extended a formal invitation to Nityostsava poet Prof. Nisar Ahmed at his residence in Bengaluru to inaugurate the Dasara celebrations this year.
This year’s Dasara celebrations will be held between September 21 and 30 and the Dasara Management Committee had already chosen the renowned poet for the inaugural ceremony. Mysore Deputy Commissioner and Dasara Special Officer Randeep accompanied by Mayor Ravikumar and welcome committee members extended a traditional welcome to the poet by offering a mix of betel leaves, scented areca nuts, floral garland and a shawl.
On September 21, Nithyotsava poet Nisar Ahmed accompanied by state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate this year’s Dasara festivities by sprinkling floral petals on deity Chamundeshwari atop the hills.
“When we were young, we viewed Dasara from a distance and now consider the pleasure of being a part of the inaugural ceremony”, said Prof. Nisar Ahmed, speaking on the occasion at his residence in Nagarabhavi extension of the state capital.
