Mysuru: T K Shivaraj, whose wife was allegedly kidnapped by her kin, has complained to the National Women’s Commission urging that he be allowed to live with his wife peacefully.

It may be recalled that on December 4, Haleema, wife of Shivaraj, was forcibly taken away when the couple was riding back home in Mysuru. Shivaraj was assaulted by the kin of his wife, before they took Haleema away.
However, in a bid to get back his wife, Shivaraj has approached the Women’s Commission stating that they had got married with mutual consent as per the law and now his wife was being tortured by her own family members on the grounds that she had married against their wish.

The couple got married about six months ago at Ontikoppalu temple in Mysuur. After their marriage, Haleema’s father had claimed that she was minor and had moved the court not to approve the marriage. A kidnapping case was also slammed against Shivaraj, but when Haleema gave a statement that she had married Shivaraj out of her own wish, the couple was set free.

The couple had since then lived in Mysuru, fearing for life.
