Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that the INDIA Bloc may not secure an absolute majority in this general election, but it does not mean that the opposition NDA would secure a majority either. He mentioned that the INDIA Bloc may require the support of other parties to form the next central government.
In an exclusive interview with PTI, Siddaramaiah stated that the INDIA Bloc may need the support of Mamata Banerjee from West Bengal, Naveen Patnaik from Odisha, CPI(M), and other political parties.
Siddaramaiah’s statement gained prominence as he speculated that the next government at the center would be a coalition one.
The CM also expressed confidence that his party would secure 15-20 seats in Karnataka, and the BJP would not be able to replicate their success from the previous Lok Sabha elections in the state.
He also addressed speculation regarding whether he would have to give up the chief minister’s chair to his deputy, D K Shivakumar, after two-and-a-half years of the Congress government being in power in Karnataka. He stated that it would depend on the decision of the party high command.
He mentioned that if the party high command asks him to continue, he would do so, otherwise, he would comply with the high command’s decision. He also clarified that he would not run for re-election after four years but would remain active in politics.
