Kodagu: Sri Swatantra Basavalinga Swamiji of Thontadarya Sansthana Matha, Basavapattana, described the elections as a festival of Democracy.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 116th birth anniversary celebrations of Shivakumara Swamiji, Saraswathi Puja and a tribute to the founders of the college organised jointly by Jayanthyotsava Samiti at the College premises.
He said that just as Diwali and Ugadi are festivals for the common man, elections should also be a festival of democracy.
He said that today’s students are the glorious citizens of the Nation and hence no one should miss out on voting. I don’t want to you all to feel that what will happen with one vote,” he said. “Exercise your right without falling prey to any temptations and not selling your votes,” he said.
“If the son-in-law is good, the daughter will be good. In the same way the State and the Country will be good with a proper representative of the people. The Country will be happy and the people will be at peace,” he said.
