Tusker attack: Labourer killed in Kodagu

Kodagu: An estate an estate labourer was killed after a wild elephant attacked him.

The deceased has been identified as Yaravara Chama (48), a resident of Dhanugala village.

According to sources, the incident happened on the morning of Saturday June 11 when Chama and his friend were returning to Dhanugala village on a scooter after taking part in a temple festival.

Chama was attacked by the lone tusker while eloping and was slain on the spot.

The villagers gathered in huge numbers after the incident to protest the Forest Department’s failure to control the growing increasing wild elephant menace.
