Rs.35 Lakh currency seized in Kodagu, 4 including TP member nabbed

Madikeri: The Suntikoppa police seized Rs 35.46 Lakh currency and nabbed four people involved in converting black money into white.

The accused include Shanivarasanthe Taluk Panchayath member B S Ananth Kumar. Rest are Hammerson Antony, Jameel Ahmed from Kushalanagar and Shridhar from Koppa near Kushalanagar.

The quartet with currency was trying to exchange the currency in Country Club resort on Friday, December 2. The seizure includes Rs 34.4 Lakh new currency notes of Rs. 2000 and the rest of lower denominations.

Kodagu Superintendent of Police (SP) received a definite tip off and soon alerted his team including Circle Inspector Sampath Kumar, sub inspectors Kyathegowda and Anup Madappa of Suntikoppa police station. The police team with few other police personnel raided the resort and seized the currency after arresting the men involved in currency exchange.

A case has been registered in Suntikoppa police station and the details transferred to income tax department for further action.
