Madikeri: Due to the catastrophic floods and landslides that had hit Kodagu, the labourers working in the estates have lost their jobs. This has pushed them into misery and depression. In order to help rebuild their lives, the district administration had organised a training camp on self-employment for the victims to bring in a new hope on September 20.
On this occasion, the Women and Child Welfare Department had organised a training camp on making photo albums, photo frames, bags, covers, gift items and many more with the medium paper. The workshop was organised in the girls Balamandir Relief Camp of the city.
A trainer from Mysuru Paper Mill Limited, S Ravishankar provided information on a variety of products that can be manufactured through paper.
“Earn more from minimum investment”, said S Ravishankar enthusing the participants.
He boosted their confidence by saying, “The victims of flood must learn how to make money using their creativity. Thus you can be self-employed from home and shape your life as desired by you.”
Consultant with Women and Children Welfare department K.L Priya and others were present during the training session.
Health check-up for victims
The Health and Family Welfare department had organised a health check-up camp for the victims of the flood.
Discussions, sessions providing mental strength and moral support and other health-related programmes were conducted by the department.
