Madduru: JDS Supremo HD Devegowda, expressing his unhappiness towards Sumalatha in a rally in Maddur said that Kumaranna (HD Kumaraswamy) had given more respect to Ambareesh than Rajkumar which Sumalatha should not forget.
Devegowda was campaigning for his grandson and JD(S)- Congress coalition candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy in Honnalagere village of Madduru, Mandya district.
Addressing the rally, he said that the political life of Ambareesh had begun with the JD(S) and also wondered what was the unfinished task of Ambareesh that Sumalatha was talking of completing.
HDD said that in his 60 years of political life, he had not experienced the kind of pain he experienced after Nikhil’s candidature was declared.
He further said that his family had not cheated anyone so far and that after the death of leaders like SD Jayaram and MS Siddaraju, their wives were allowed to contest.
Devegowda said, “we have fought fiercely for 25 years for the Cauvery water. Even though the Kannambadi dam was built by the Maharaja of Mysore the centre was asking us to leave 48tmc water to Tamilnadu. Our fight was for the sake of the farmers and for their lives”
