Mysuru: As part of Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa’s birth anniversary celebrations, B. S. Yediyurappa Followers’ Club and Jeevadhara Rakta Nidhi Kendra organised ‘Gograsa Gaupooja’ at Basaveshwara Road here on Monday February 27.
Rakesh Bhat said, “Yediyurappa is a cow lover and had given a call to give fodder to cows instead of garlanding him on his birthday. Since then, it has become customary for us to perform gaupooja every year on his birthday and pray for his health and longevity. This is why thousands of people were inspired to do cow service during the drought. We have heard that even the Opposition is describing Yediyurappa is akin to Kamdhenu.”
Bhat added that even when Yediyurappa was the Chief Minister, he had built a shed at his residence and reared a cow and showed his love for cows. “Inspired by it, today the State Government has also come up with Punyakoti Adoption Scheme. This project will be home to thousands of cows.”
