A government bus carrying about 60 passengers veered off the road and plunged into a lake near Gonatagala village in Saragur taluk on Monday.
The bus was travelling from Saragur to Kunegala via Hediyala when the driver reportedly lost control. While all passengers managed to escape with their lives, several suffered injuries.
Victims from Badagalapura, Yeshwantpur, and Yettige villages were among those seriously hurt and were rushed to the HD Kote government hospital for treatment.
Saragur police visited the scene to assess the situation and have launched an inquiry, citing driver negligence as the likely cause of the mishap.
