A serious land dispute in Benkipura village under Bilikere limits of Hunsur taluk, Mysuru district, led to a violent attack on a couple. The incident took place over two acres of land in Survey No. 69/01 of Annarayapura village, Bilikere hobli.
According to police, Swaminarayan was ploughing his field with a tractor to prepare for sowing jowar when Gopalanayak, his wife Meenakshi, their son Manju, and a relative, Chetan, confronted him. Claiming ownership of the land, they demanded that he stop cultivation. The argument escalated, and the group forcibly halted the tractor.
In the ensuing attack, Swaminarayan was struck on the head with a stone, causing serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Swaminarayan and his wife Roja were also allegedly threatened with death if they continued to cultivate the disputed property.
Based on a complaint, Bilikere police registered a case against the four accused. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact nature of the land ownership and to prevent further violence.
