Mysuru: Registration mandatory for dog rearing

Mysuru: It is now mandatory for individuals or organisations engaged in dog breeding, sale and pet stall activities to register.

Owners are required to register with the Karnataka Animal Welfare Board under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Dog Breeding and Sale Rules-2017 and Pet Animal Husbandry Rules, 2018) before obtaining a licence from the local bodies. Individuals/ organisations engaged in dog breeding, sale and pet animal stall activities should submit the filled-in form within 30 days from the date of issue of this notification to the office of the Deputy Director and Secretary of the District Animal Welfare Association or the Animal Husbandry Department, Dhanvantari Road seeking registration along with the required documents and the prescribed fee. If they fail to do so, action will be taken against them, authorities have stated.
