Mysuru: Farmers expressed outrage by burning copies of Manifestos of political parties.

Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday May 6, the State President of the State Sugarcane Growers’ Association Kuruburu Shanthakumar, said that there are more than three crore farmer voters in the State, why the political parties seeking the votes of the farmers did not commit themselves in the Manifesto of farmers’ issues and ran away. He said that they gave time for commitment, but none of the parties showed commitment, he said.

A decision has been taken after discussing this with the farmer leaders across the State. In the election campaign, don’t be fooled by the sweet words of movie actors, and it has been suggested that voting is like finding a good groom to marry off your daughter. Vote for the best and support them, he said.

In the name of Democracy, criminals, hooligans, exiles, land-mafia, excise-education mafia are investing capital to grab power. They come to power and start looting, he said.

The farmers’ organisations appealed to people not to be deceived by such people but to vote for the people who are concerned about the farmers.

The political parties who claim to bring a revolutionary change in Karnataka, do not make any false promises, are pushing people into the ruin by issuing bogus Manifestos. Why are you not committed to farmer life? If the farmers of the State put their mind to it, they will overthrow the Governmenta, he said and added that the farmers of the country are not slaves of anyone.

He said as per Dr Swaminathans report minimum support price for all agricultural products should be fixed. Minimum income guarantee security scheme for farmers who work day and night, promise to provide 12 hours of continuous electricity to agricultural pumpsets during the day time should be made. Just like 10 Lakh Crore loan waiver for the businessmen of the country, there should be a complete agricultural loan waiver for the farmers who are struggling due to heavy rains and crop damage. The agricultural loan policy should be changed. Separate market for organic products, cereals, separate additional rate fixing scheme should be implemented. Many pro-farmer points should have been included in manifesto along with the issues that capitalist companies should not curb the retail sales system, and investment in the agricultural sector of these companies should be banned, he added.
