Mysuru: The workers are staging a sit-in in front of Bannari Amman Sugar Factory at Alaganchi Village in Nanjanagudu Taluk of the District.

The workers gathered in front of the factory and raised slogans against the management of the factory. The protest is being organised by the Bannari Amman Sugar Factory Workers’ Union and All-India Trade Union Congress (AITUC). The wages of the workers should be implemented as per the orders of the 7th Tripartite Council of the Government. Otherwise, the legitimate demands made by the workers should be implemented. The workers were demanding that wages be revised.

The lives of more than 600 workers have come to the fore. It is very difficult to make a living. Workers will be paid wages in four years. The Government has ordered an increase of 13.5 per cent.

When asked to apply the Government’s order to the workers, he replied that we will not call off the strike till we get a wage revision.

Work has come to a standstill due to the Workers’ strike, causing losses to the farmers.

The farmers have suffered a big blow by not harvesting the sugarcane crop which has been harvested.

More than 600 workers of The Bannari Amman Sugar Factory took part in the protest.
