Mysuru: The University of Mysore that shone in the glint of hosting 101st convocation recently, is dimmed by its performance in National Assessment and Accreditation Committee (NAAC) assessment.
In the fourth cycle of NAAC assessment, over a century old varsity is reduced to ‘A grade’ from ‘A+ grade’ it had secured in the previous third cycle. The fall in grade is attributed to the vacancies irrespective of teaching and non-teaching faculty that remains to be filled since the last recruitment were conducted in 2019.
Vice Chancellor Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar said, “We were hopeful to retain the grade, but there were vacancies. However, we were well-equipped with better basic infrastructural facilities. To restore the lost grade by addressing the required criteria, the varsity has to wait for five years.”
