Elephants have been up to a lot these days and here is a recent case where a man was trampled to death by one such creature in the Wayanad region. Following that, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi came forward with a request to compensate and help the grieving family.

As a representative of the region in the Lok Sabha, the leader has done his part to show his affection and care, granting an amount of Rs 15 lakh to the deceased man’s family members.

In fact, the minister was said to have broken away from the Bharat Jodo Nyah Yatra, to visit the grieving family and take action by demanding compensation on humanitarian grounds.

Ajeesh Joseph Panachiyil passed away on February 10th, leaving citizens and forest authorities in deep concern over the situation in the region of Pulpally.

The elephant that was responsible for the fatal act was a tuskless one from the Bandipur forest at the Karnataka Tamil Nadu Kerala border, which strayed into the Wayanad region.

As a result of this Eshwar Khandre, minister of forest, ecology and environment decided to take up the matter, presenting the request for a large hearted compensation to the CM, which he agreed to pay.
