Udupi– Malpe police have apprehended a long-time absconder in connection with a theft case registered under their jurisdiction.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Sameer, a resident of Jeppu Market, Mangaluru. Authorities confirmed that he had been evading arrest for nearly 14 years before finally being caught.
Sameer was taken into custody in Mangaluru and subsequently presented before the court. Following the hearing, the judge ordered his remand to judicial custody.
Police officials are likely to reopen further investigations linked to the original case and determine if the accused was involved in other offences during his time on the run.
